Let’s face it. There is no safe and sustainable “quick fix” for losing weight. Obesity and metabolic syndrome are on the rise despite a flood of new medication options for weight management. Poor dietary choices and metabolism-hijacking food additives have made losing weight nearly impossible. Sadly, Metformin and Semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) have become trendy medications prescribed for weight loss despite known potential side effects which can range from nausea and diarrhea to liver toxicity and thyroid cancer. The mechanism of action for these medications is poorly understood, and prescribers cannot be certain of the long-term side effects of these drugs. Furthermore, these medications are commonly prescribed without a reliable way to monitor progress. For example, the number on the scale can be influenced by water weight, muscle mass, as well as changes in body fat. Without a reliable measurement of body composition, the patient cannot know if a decrease in overall weight is related to loss of fat, muscle, or water.

At The Peak, we take a different approach to weight management using natural and objective methods to achieve your goals and monitor your progress. No one likes to get on the dreaded scale. But you have to have some initial data so you can look back at the progress you’ve made.

  1. Monitoring weight loss progress is observed using the InBody 570 Body Composition Analyzer. You will receive an initial bioimpedance analysis report which will show not only your current weight, but also a full breakdown of your hydration status, muscle mass, and body fat composition. The muscle-fat analysis allows tracking of muscle mass versus body fat mass. The Obesity analysis shows current Body Mass Index (BMI) as well as body fat percentage. A segmental lean mass analysis will show the distribution of muscle mass between arms, legs, and trunk while the segmental fat analysis report allows tracking of fat mass specifically between all four limbs and the trunk. The visceral fat analysis can determine if fat mass is superficial or packed around the organs which can be an indicator of potential health concerns such as heart disease, fatty liver, or cancer. With subsequent measurements, your Body Composition History can determine exactly where the changes in body composition have occurred (fat loss versus muscle loss).
  2. Nutritional counseling conducted in collaboration by our Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nutritionist is used to evaluate current dietary intake and make recommendations to help you achieve your weight loss goals. Learning effective dietary practices can help you lose weight and keep it off without being dependent on weight loss medications.
  3. Laboratory analysis can be used to determine metabolic health as well as hormonal imbalance. Insulin resistance and hormone imbalance can lead to stubborn fat and a sluggish metabolism, while inappropriate cortisol levels can add to fatigue and the inability to burn fat. Laboratory results can help determine potential causes of weight gain or resistance to weight loss. With this knowledge, The Peak staff can customize a health plan specific to your needs.
  4. Nutritional supplements can have similar effects on metabolism as medications without serious potential side effects. Based on your goals and metabolic evaluation, a natural supplement regimen can be recommended to support weight loss and metabolic function.
  5. Biohacking techniques through several wellness modalities are also available at The Peak to boost your metabolism and increase cellular repair. Available therapies include: Infrared Sauna, Red Light TherapyIntravenous Ozone, and Exercise with Oxygen Therapy (EWOT).
  6. Body sculpting with technology such as the Emsculpt Neo® can help build muscle and burn fat. Emsculpt Neo is intended for non-invasive lipolysis (breakdown of fat) of the abdomen and thighs and reduction in circumference of the abdomen and thighs. Emsculpt Neo is also cleared for improvement of abdominal tone, strengthening of the abdominal muscles and development of firmer abdomen, strengthening, toning, firming of buttocks, thighs, arms and calves. Emsculpt Neo can be the jumpstart your workout program needs to support your weight loss goals.

Even if you are already taking a prescription medication for weight loss, The Peak can help you monitor your progress with an InBody analysis and provide additional assistance through nutritional counseling and supplementation, laboratory analysis, and our wellness therapies.
